Originally these drawings were part of two cheaply produced books, “The Hardline according to… A4, Vol 1 & 2.” A4 is a British Standard document size somewhat equivalent of 8.5″ x 11″ in the U.S. The work was printed on both sides and bled through the paper making a ghostly appearance overleaf.
Many of the images incorporate surrealist juxtaposition, for instance, a power tool is ridden by a creature wearing a scuba snorkel while the tool emits a generous blob of lube. Its ghost seems to ponder the scene, (above, left). Meaning is invited to stir in the mind of the viewer.
